Dallas alone grew its millennial population more than any other city in the U.S., a new analysis of Census Bureau data shows.

Personal finance website SmartAsset analyzed net migration rates and found that 10,371 millennials moved to Dallas in 2017, the most recent data available. It defined millennials as those between the ages of 20 and 34.

Many companies, large and small are taking advantage of the low cost of living and the high quality of life here and relocating here. In a recent five-year period Texas received a net gain of 100,000 people from California alone. A steady stream of California businesses are also trading Los Angeles, San Francisco or San Jose for Dallas, Houston and Austin. For example, McKesson Corp., the nation’s largest pharmaceutical distributor, relocate its headquarters from San Francisco to Irving, bringing around 1600 jobs.

Many millennial with children who have lived in California their entire lives are moving out of state, often to find a better and more affordable life. They cash out of their $2,000,000.00 1400 sqft house in San Francisco and buy a 4 bedroom brand new home in Frisco for $361,900.00. Even after paying cash for their new home in Frisco, they will have substantial cash left over. In many cases will have enough left over to buy Mom and Dad a house as well.
